Position Overview

As the Sr. Project Manager, Facilities and Automation Design, you will provide project management support to the Facilities Department in order to complete all capital construction projects for C&S and ES3 warehouse and office facilities. The construction projects will include large scale, high complexity projects including distribution center design, automated distribution center design, distribution center re-design, and automation system design. All projects will also include responsibility for developing project cost estimates, cost justifications, and project schedules.


  • Develop and manage scopes of work, project schedules and project budgets for all phases of large and small scale construction projects including programming, schematic design, detailed design, permitting and construction. Provide Project Planning and on-site management and coordination of all construction projects. Understanding of internal customer activities. Coordinate construction activities with C&S Operations personnel to minimize negative impact of project on daily production. Working knowledge of local, State and Federal codes and agencies. Responsible for managing state, local and federal required documentation as required by projects.

  • Administer the general construction process including solicitation of contractor's qualifications (pre-qualify bidders), comparative analysis of bid packages, recommendation for contract award, contract document negotiation, AIA contract preparation and documentation of job change orders.

  • Coordinate and manage the activities of design professionals to achieve project objectives. Conduct technical/plan review of design documents and submit written responses identifying required corrections or changes. Plan review may include: ensuring all plans conform to building standard construction details and requirements and that the general contractor and architect follow the published building rules and regulations regarding the base building architectural, HVAC, fire/life safety and structural systems.

  • Perform facility inspections for each of the following disciplines: general building conditions, building infrastructure, building sanitation, safe operations, asset management planning, site conditions including: storm water management, lighting and paving. Provide budgetary project estimates. Estimation will include meeting with existing and new vendors to obtain estimates for projects, insuring that scope of work is in line with project initiatives and applicable codes.

  • Ensure compliance of building construction rules and regulations and collaborate with chief engineers to monitor quality of construction. Develop and maintain productive relationships with all outsourced support entities including: architectural and engineering consultants, construction management organizations and supply chain vendors necessary to produce required project results within the project schedule and budget.

  • Assist other project managers with projects at C&S facilities.

  • Aid in the development of corporate wide design and construction standards.

  • Help analyze new business ventures by assisting in developing conceptual building/site plans and budgetary construction estimates.

  • Assist the maintenance department on large, capital intensive maintenance projects.



  • Education (Minimum Needed): BS in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent combination of formal training and related experience in construction management or project management

  • Experience (Minimum Needed): 10+ years in engineering, supply chain, operations or other applicable field Experience in designing or implementing automated systems preferred

  • Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Extensive Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word experience

  • Special Skills: AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT experience a plus

  • Other: Commercial/Industrial building systems, construction methodology, electrical/mechanical/site infrastructure, life safety, AIA contract development, contract addendum development, high voltage power systems, including: primary/secondary power, distribution, infrastructure, ammonia and all types of refrigeration process, process safety management, automation equipment and capabilities
