Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the integrity and security of the enterprise’s Intel-based servers supporting the various operating units of the company. Perform routine server maintenance, and administration of Microsoft Exchange Email environment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily administration of a server environment consisting of 1,500+ local and remote Intel-based servers running Microsoft Windows Server (2008 R2 and 2012 R2) and VMware ESXi

  • Administering, monitoring and maintaining the Exchange e-mail system and related messaging technologies (e.g. spam filtering)

  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring procedures for all Exchange servers and related systems

  • Perform routine server maintenance, configuring users, and will be the first escalation point for Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Server issues.

  • Administration of multiple VMware ESXi clusters, VMware vCenter, Microsoft Clustering, DFS, file and print services, Citrix XenApp, Exchange 2010/2016, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, WSUS, and Sophos Endpoint Security

  • Build and deploy servers, both physical and virtual

  • Update/maintain firmware and patch levels of all server systems

  • Participate in shared on-call rotation as needed

  • Ensure that system standards, SOPs, and IT policies and procedures are followed.

  • Support and maintain systems to reduce incidents, decrease complexity, improve documentation, improve end-user experience, and increase stability of supported systems and processes

  • Maintain excellent communication between internal IT groups, business units, and clients

  • Maintain accurate documentation on systems, applications, processes, and hardware configurations

  • Perform tasks as directed by management

  • Maintain current knowledge of technology trends

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere

  • Coordinate assistance from other departments as necessary

Qualifications

  • Technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent systems experience

  • 6+ years of experience supporting a large Windows user environment

  • 4+ years of experience in Exchange Administration in a large Microsoft Exchange environment with 5,000 or more mailboxes.

  • Strong working knowledge of Exchange 2010 or higher versions,

  • Ability to install, maintain and support MS Exchange 2010, 2013 and 2016

  • Ability to install, maintain and support Exchange in a high availability solution deployed to achieve low RPO and RTO’s

  • Strong background in TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other network services that are required in an Exchange environment.

  • 3+ years of experience in administration and support of email security appliances. Experience in Cisco IronPort administration is highly desirable.

  • 3+ years of Experience in VMware ESXi and vCenter administration

  • Proficiency in Windows PowerShell and specifically those commands needed to maintain MS Exchange.

  • Experience with CommVault Simpana is highly desirable

  • Experience with Citrix XenApp support is a plus

  • Must be available to participate in a shared on-call rotation

  • Experience with hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI)

  • Experience with Dell, IBM, HP, and Cisco server and/or storage hardware

  • Experience working with vendors to replace failed hardware

  • Intel server architecture and TCP/IP knowledge

  • Understanding of NTFS and share permissions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Linux, UNIX, FTP, high availability, networking, or storage experience would be a plus

  • Current industry certifications preferred (Microsoft, VMware, Citrix)

  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to devise technical solutions to remediate problems

  • Ability to contribute to system design/decisions

  • Ability to contribute to the technical direction of projects

  • Ability to learn new technologies on the job

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Limited travel may be required
