As a Refrigeration Technician , you will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of large scale industrial computer based ammonia and R-22 refrigeration systems and industrial and office HVAC systems. You will provide assistance to Supervisor of Facilites Maintenance to ensure assets are managed in accordance with IIAR, ASHRE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, and applicable State and Local Codes.
Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs (Compressors, condensers, fans, heating, cooling, contactors, motors, micro processors, frequency drives, etc.), conducting preventive maintenance (P.M.’s) within established timelines (Oil analysis, filter changes, calibration of sensors and transducers, compressor alignment checks/adjustments, etc.), leak detection, conducting required inspections and reporting, evaluating and implementing energy management strategies, ensure product integrity is maintained through temperature monitoring and control, evaluating and reporting equipment condition, clear and concise communication with Management, etc.
Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P.M.s, etc.
Responsible for daily communication of all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to departmental management and maintenance teams.
Responsible for housekeeping and clean up of refrigeration machine rooms, refrigeration maintenance areas, and all project areas on a daily basis.
Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals, etc. for systems being overseen.
Assist management in developing standard operating procedures, daily work schedules, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Assist in managing outside mechanical and refrigeration contractors conducting service, repair and new contract work.
Assist management in creation of budgets for individual projects, yearly capital and yearly operating expenses.
Assist the building and material handling equipment maintenance teams. Duties will include assisting in general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, forklift repair and maintenance, changing and servicing lift batteries, and other general maintenance activities.
Associate's Degree (two-year degree) in HVACR, Refrigeration/Electrical, Trade School Certification, or equivalent experience.
Two years experience in Refrigeration/Electrical/HVAC or equivalent experience.
Ammonia Refrigeration & CFC Certification.
Special skills: Glycol Systems, FRICK systems operating platform, HAZMAT, and Low Voltage Control Systems.
OSHA, Good Manufacturing Processes, PSM, and RMP.
Willing to obtain OSHA Level A Hazmat Certification (24Hours, Medical Certification) within 90 days of employment.
Willing to obtain OSHA HAZMAT, incident Command Training (8 Hours) within 90 days of employment.
Willing to obtain RETA (CARO) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator Certification within 1 year of hire.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical ability to sit and stand for various periods and to handle cases of merchandise, which entails constant repetition of lifting (up to 65 lbs), bending, pushing, stooping and performing all functions as set forth above
Work in varying temperatures
Exposure to cold/hot, cleaning chemicals, solvents, and moderate noise levels
Maybe called on to operate warehouse equipment
Required to wear personal protective equipment
Ability to use and climb a ladder to multiple levels
