As a Fresh Sales Merchandiser , you will be responsible for increasing fresh department sales, profits, and productivity among member retailers. You will also build relationships with owners and fresh department heads while providing education, direction, and advice which supports optimum participation in cooperative programs and which responds to consumer needs.
Collaborate with sales and merchandising teams to customize and implement marketing strategy for fresh department for assigned territory.
In conjunction with owners, determine and identify goals for the fresh department and develops plan to achieve pricing, quality, and inventory objectives.
Educate customers on the value and quality of the Company including new product trends, cost structure, program changes and developments.
Identify all categories where purchase concentration rate needs to be improved.
Responsible for point-of-sale presentations of company products and promotional materials. Supplies promotional materials, communicates correct use, inspects presentations, and makes changes and improvements when necessary.
Establish and implement effective promotion plans within each category of merchandise.
Determine an effective product mix by category, working with category management principles.
Develop plans for space allocation for appropriate season or time period.
Plan and launch sales promotions throughout the year.
Promote increased distribution of private label merchandise and insures effective shelf placement.
Maintain accurate and updated data files on assigned customer base. Assist with new store setup and openings.
Assist with overseeing the research and analysis of customer behavior, sales trends, inventory, and revenues in order to forecast, track, and report on merchandising needs.
Refer sales leads, customer feedback, and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the organization so that they can respond to changing market conditions and customer demands.
Develop and enhance relationships between C&S and independent owners; specifically in the fresh departments
Visit customers; assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services; respond to customer enquiries; negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority; and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets.
Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business.
High School diploma.
Five to seven years related sales and merchandising experience.
Knowledge of perishable commodities.
Ability to communicate in clear, concise manner; listen attentively, provide appropriate responses.
Strong sales background preferred.
