As a Natural, Organic and Specialty Merchandise Analyst , you will generate increased sales and gross profits through specific category management strategies and practices that determine the optimum item assortment, shelf placement, section size, aisle flow and adjacencies of products in assigned categories. You will be responsible for executing business development strategies within the category, driving growth, opportunity and reach. Knowledge and understanding of the natural, organic, and specialty retail environment is essential to success in this role.
Support company growth initiatives for the Natural, Organic, and Specialty category
Conduct effective communication of planograms, individual business plans and reviews with customers, vendors, buyers, and category merchandisers; coordinate activities with other category managers, field merchandisers, and supervise support staff.
Develop and maintain relationships with key retailers and provide knowledgeable recommendations on category section sizes and flow adjacencies for utilization in store layouts
Assist in the development and management of category strategies to increase distribution, sales, and profitability. Formulate SKU rationalization and shelf management plans to speed introduction of new items, prevent out of stocks, remove underperforming items, increase transaction size and gross profit, make it easier for customers to shop categories, and provide retail pricing strategies for successful category performance versus other channels of trade.
Conduct periodic market checks to maintain awareness of competitive product assortment, pricing, promotion and shelf management practices for assigned categories.
Prepare tactical reviews of regional wholesale and retail sales using Nielsen Nitro Software, warehouse shipment data, and vendor generated information. Analyze integrated data to review product performance and emerging trends. Determine SKU rationalization and conduct audits of product and vendor performance.
Provide shelf merchandising plans to aggressively market store brands to increase their respective sales, profit and achieve distribution and placement objectives.
Coordinate execution of category calendar with third-party sales force as well as vendors and brokers.
Provide direction, as needed, for Natural, Organic, and Specialty category of customer qualifications.
Bachelor's degree in Business, or related field
Five years of retail or wholesale category merchandising experience; five years of hands-on, field merchandising experience, specifically in the Natural, Organic, & Specialty category
Retail shelf management background, promotional planning experience, and exposure in dealing with market metrics such as: Category Management Standards, Nielsen Home Scan, and Spectra.
Intensive Microsoft Office, market analysis, and shelf management software proficiency, strong negotiation, and consensus development skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask
